At the age of nineteen, Jasper De Buyst turned pro and combined track cycling with road racing. He performed at top level on the track, which his various victories and beautiful results in the omnium and the six-day circuit prove. In 2013 and 2014, Jasper won the Lotto Six Days of Flanders-Ghent. He won a bronze medal in the madison during the Track Cycling World Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in 2015 alongside Otto Vergaerde. After his participation in the Olympic Games of 2016, De Buyst shifted his focus towards road cycling. That decision turned out to be a wise one because in 2017, the young Belgian sprinter took four victories in the shirt of Lotto Soudal, including Binche-Chimay-Binche and the second stage in the Tour de Wallonie. Jasper rode his first Tour de France in 2018 where he acted as lead-out for André Greipel.
