Q&A with John Degenkolb
What would you do if you hadn’t become a professional cyclist?
I would definitely be a master builder. Even though I actually did a different apprenticeship. I'm a policeman - even if hardly anyone knows about that. But building houses or renovating them from scratch like my own, that would definitely be fun for me as a profession, too.
What is your favourite hobby, besides cycling?
Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul. If I am not on my Ridley I love riding my caféracer, my customized lucky 7 motorbike. And of course, I am a big fan of music too.
Imagine you could trade places with a celebrity for one day, which one would it be and why?
Hard to say! Maybe Cristiano Ronaldo or LionelMessi for a day to show my father that maybe I could have been a soccer player after all!
What is your signature dish?
Roulades with dumplings.
If you could be an animal for one day, which one would you pick?
I guess a Cheetah. Just to see how he manages to accelerate so fast … Maybe we can learn something from them.
