Lotte Kopecky 2nd on Giro Rosa Stage 5
"I'll keep chasing that victory."
Two weeks ahead of the Ronde van Vlaanderen, which will take place on Sunday 7 April, Lotte Kopecky can be satisfied with her current shape. Last Wednesday, she sprinted to the third place at the first women’s edition of Nokere Koerse.
The 121.6 kilometres long race started in Deinze. After about fifty kilometres, the peloton entered the first of five local laps. The finish line was drawn at the top of Nokereberg. Despite several attempts, among other by Lotte Kopecky, a bunch sprint couldn’t be avoided. The Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes was the fastest on the cobbles, ahead of the German rider Lisa Klein and Lotto Soudal’s Lotte Kopecky. It’s another nice result for Kopecky, after her eleventh place at Drentse Acht van Westerveld and fifth place in the WorldTour race Ronde van Drenthe. Two other Lotto Soudal Ladies finished on top ten in Nokere too: Kelly Van den Steen got 6th, while Belgian champion Annelies Dom got 9th.
