Lotto Soudal Development rider Alec Segaert has won the U23 Chrono des Nations in impressive fashion. In the French town of Les Herbiers, the European U23 time trial champion was a whopping 42 seconds faster than U23 TT world champion Wærenskjold. The Frenchman Pierre Thierry finished third, at 1’38” from Segaert, who won the Chrono des Nations for the second year in a row, after a victory in the junior category last year. That way, the 19-year-old Segaert concludes his successful first season in the U23 category with a win.

Segaert is of course happy to end his season with a win. “I was at the start of my final race of the season full of motivation. I wanted to give it my all one last time this year and to show my European champion’s jersey. Before the race, I of course hoped to have a battle with Waerenskjold, but to win with 42 seconds advantage exceeds all of my expectations. It is a beautiful ending of a very nice season and that way I enter a rest period with a fantastic feeling.”
