Development Victory for Jarne Van de Paar at Kemmel Koerse

Lotto Soudal U23 rider Jarne Van de Paar has won the second edition of ‘Kemmel Koerse’. After a tough and hilly race in the Heuvelland region, a sizeable front group was caught inside the final kilometre. In the sprint for victory, Jarne Van de Paar showed his fast legs and beat his compatriots Luca De Meester and Thibau Nys to take the win at Kemmel Koerse.

“After months without any races and training without any specific goal, this feels like a big relief”, says Jarne Van de Paar. “Actually, the race didn’t start well for us as a sizeable front group formed where no one from Lotto Soudal was in. Then, we needed to chase with the entire team, except for myself as I would wait for the sprint. Almost all teams were represented in the front group, but my teammates did such a great job. They kept the breakaway within striking distance and eventually we caught them inside the final kilometre. Eventually, I was able to sprint to the victory!”

“The strong wind, the rain and tough course made for a hard race. Despite several fast guys at the start I had faith in my sprint. And also thanks to the confidence the team gave me, I could finish it off today”, concludes Van de Paar.
