Ladies Lotte Kopecky 2nd on Giro Rosa Stage 5

Lotte Kopecky finished second on the fifth stage of Giro Rosa. In the coastal city of Terracina she only got passed by multiple world champion Marianne Vos. Lizzie Deignan completed the podium as third.

Lotte Kopecky: “I had a really good feeling today, also on the climbs. A lot of sprinters were dropped and that was really satisfying. I had a perfect last kilometer, with perfect positioning. I started sprinting with 250 meters to go. And only Marianne passed me. She came at a high speed. So it wasn’t close. I am happy with the second place, but also disappointed that I didn’t win. I think tomorrow and the day after are maybe also opportunities for a sprint. Although it won’t be easy. But we’ll try and keep chasing that victory!”
